Reducing Carbon Emissions in SMEs
Launch Event

12pm, Friday 12 June 2009
Abbey Pumping Station, Corporation Road,
Leicester. LE4 5PX

The Leicester Energy Agency officially launched its new project to help businesses reduce carbon emissions on Friday, 12 June 2009.

The Reducing Carbon Emissions in SMEs project helps local businesses to assess their carbon footprint and to consider measures to respond to climate change.

The launch event explained how small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the greater Leicester area can receive advice and guidance free of charge on increasing their energy efficiency, incorporating renewable energy into their buildings and addressing the general issues surrounding climate change in the economic community.

By attending this event your business could be one of the first in line to benefit from a grant to help install intelligent metering technology for the monitoring of utilities (gas, electric and water). This allows businesses to see exactly how much energy is being used at any one time and identifies any wasted energy. Previous companies who have intelligent metering have not only seen a 10-15% drop in energy consumption but have also used this information to negotiate their fuel tariffs for future years.

Assistance for installing intelligent metering comes in the form of a grant to part-fund the installation. However, this grant works on a first-come-first-served basis so do not delay in seeing whether your business could benefit from intelligent metering technology.

This project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
